Today I successfully finished assembling our bicycles so that we can take them with us to Cornwall. They are pretty nice bikes, and I hope to get a decent amount of use out of them. I need to buy some helmets tomorrow.
In other news, it turns out that Ryan isn’t leaving until mid April, because of some errors with paperwork and some confusion with the admin people….so that’s nice in a way. I think we’ll be in Cornwall when he leaves, so we’ll have to say goodbye before we go down there.
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before, but I’ve always been interested in doing a web comic. After all of this time, it is finally going to happen. I’ve been writing content and providing it to Steph and she’s been drawing the comics. We’re probably going to register a seperate domain for it and we’ll both link it from our websites. I’ll post more about it once we have the first comic up for viewing. I just hope people like it, because my sense of humor has been known to be quite dry. I tend to laugh at things nobody thinks are funny, so I don’t know if we’ll get a massive cult following and earn fame and fortune…but it should be fun.
As for woodcarving, I haven’t had a chance in the past few days to do any. I’m looking forward to getting started on it again, and I’m going to order a leather strop and some stropping compound to make sure my tools are as sharp as possible. It should make things much easier.
Lastly, an update on the spider situation: Our cat Truffle (the British Blue Shorthair) conducted a raid in the dark of the night and eliminated her mortal enemy. I feel a bit sorry for the spiders that wander in here, but Steph and I are both terrified of them and the cats are usually at them before we realize they are there in the first place.
Today I was sitting at my desk in my office and I started to hear scratching noises in the ceiling. I walked over to one of those big flourescent lights and took a look up. There was a tiny bird perched on one of the light tubes and it kept flapping around trying to get out. I gave it a nudge and it managed to free itself. It took off tearing around the inside of the building as my coworkers ducked for cover. In the end I managed to usher it through an open window. It was quite a cute little bird so I’m glad it managed to get back outside.
Ryan came over this evening and he gave Steph and I a nice set of teacups his ex girlfriend picked out for us in Japan when they were still together. He meant to give it to us over a year ago but he kept forgetting. Anyway, they are very nice. She picked well. He also gave me one of his jackets which was too big for him. It is a really nice jacket..very comfortable and it looks nice too.
There was a spider on the loose for the last couple of nights and Truffle (one of our cats) has been diligently hunting it tonight. It is an intelligent spider and uses the terrain to its advantage but the huntress shall have it in the end.
Anyway it has a been a pretty good day. I shall post more tomorrow, as it is now time for bed!
I’m sure you’ll all be please to know that my tooth is fixed. I went to the dentist yesterday afternoon and he somehow constructed the missing tooth fragment from mysterious magical witchdentist materials….perhaps from the fabric of the world itself. I know not these things. I do know that my tooth is nice and smooth and perhaps lording its superiority over my other lesser teeth. I’d be pleased to give any of you a tour of the new features, should any of you be interested in such an event.
Here are a couple of things I’ve carved recently. They aren’t much, but hopefully I’ll finish my cat soon. I had fun doing these and I think I’m going to try to keep track of all of my little projects.
One is a heart I carved as a small present for Steph and the other is a quick branch carving I did. It is supposed to be some sort of spreader.

All of those photos can be found in my new Wood Carving set on my Flickr page although they are the only photos in the set at the moment. I think I’ll also add a section on my website dedicated to finished projects. Maybe in the future I’ll do step by step photo instructions for wood carving projects. I’ll have to get better first, though.
I’ve found a really nice website for spiritual matters called abarefootman.co.uk which I’ll be adding to the Spirituality section of my blogroll. The site has already helped clear some things up in my mind and seems to be an excellent resource. Anyway, I hope someone else gets some use out of it. Love and Respect.
