Over the past few months, I’ve been getting into Wood Carving. I’m quite horrible at it right now, but I hope to improve vastly. Ideally, I’ll become a Master Wood Carver and ride around in a wooden vehicle with wooden birds flitting about as I drive through a wooden city peddling my wooden wares.

So far, I’ve only managed to make a little heart, a bowl, a spoon, and a branch carved spreading device…I guess for peanut butter or something, if you enjoy the blending tastes of wood and peanut butter.

I’ve been reading a bit about it as well as just blindly trying to figure it out on my own. I really don’t know if my technique is that great, but if you check back with me in about 10 years, I’ll let you know if I’ve figured it out. Anyone enjoy a little woodcarving? Maybe we could get together and carve an army for ourselves. An army of peace and woodiness, that is…providing shelter for many a woodpecker in dire need.

Maybe I’ll post a picture or two of my next finished project to see what you think.

    Hi Mike,

The beauty of wood carving is not the complexity of the piece but the tranquility that it bestows upon the carver. As you know being in the military your time is not your own but when you’re carving you can be at peace while creating your own masterpiece.

It doesn’t have to be the best in the world, it’s all about fun and being able to learn. I find when I am carving all problems dissolve leaving you with a clear piece of mind.

    Enjoy your craft!
