Just stuff

I've been looking at this site and now have an intense desire to go to the Faroe islands.

For some reason, they just look really awesome. I guess maybe next year that could be a possibility, if Steph wanted to go. I doubt airfare would cost that much. We also have other places to go next year, though. I don't think I'll have enough leave for anything but home and Spain this year.

So yesterday I was sitting at work and we got this email regarding out reenlistment bonuses. We no longer get one for our career field. So basically, if I had any plans for reenlisting again in 4 years, those are now gone unless something strange happens. So…after I take my promotion test, it looks like I'll be starting some online classes. Hopefully we'll be able to get Steph's stuff done most of the way as well. We'll see. I guess I'll go for something computer related, although eventually I'd like to learn another language for improved opportunities in the job market. There are a lot of positions open to people who know other languages. Mostly german and asian languages, last time I checked. Worth looking into, I guess.

Nothing else that new, really. We got a gas barbecue grill from someone who is leaving this base, and we have been cooking on that a lot lately. I have to say that I made some incredibly good burgers and ribs the other day. Much better than stuff you can get in restaraunts over here. I also got a nice journal, which I think I have decided will be my travel journal. When I go to other places, or on trips, I'll write my thoughts in there, and maybe type it out on here afterward.

In fitness news, I have been reading up on various exercise that is good for martial artists. I was reading about Bruce Lee the other day and I have to say that he did so much exercise, it is totally insane….but I've decided to make use of some of it. I'm going to do some of his ab work, as well as a few of the things he did for weight training, and I'll be changing my treadmill mode to random, to work myself harder. Also, I'll be jumping rope for a period of time on saturdays and sundays, and eventually hanging a heavy punching bag from the overhang on the patio of our back yard. The punching bag will come later, and I'm waiting for the jump rope to get here…oh…and I'll also be doing a lot of nightly stretching to increase my leg flexibility.

My supervisor has changed at work…it kinda sucks, because this guy used to be the same rank as me, we always joke around, and I thought of him more as a friend than an authority figure up until now. We don't have a choice though, so we're making the best of it. He is still being supervised by my old supervisor, so I'm not going to get screwed over, at least….I hope.

I still haven't finished building Steph's computer, due to various expenses. After we buy various plane tickets (expensive!!!!!!) I'll try to finish that up. Anyway, I should get to work. I'm wasting american tax dollars.

I like to be in control of myself. I dislike crowds, especially crowds containing people trying to kill me. Even though I always win, I prefer to avoid fights if possible. What Video Game Character Are You?

Doodle

I haven't posted in here for a while..mostly because instead of messing around with this, I've been doodling at work a bit. On the computer, of course.

I'll post a few pics on here, but bear in mind that they aren't very good. I'd going to get a graphics tablet soon, I think. It would help a lot. I'll post them in the order that I created them.

I also have some older ones in my multimedia section of my website (severely in need of update and/or revamp)

Goodbye March (work in progress, I think)

It is done.

Anyway, aside from that…I've been attempting to eat better. I probably need to exercise more than I do, but by the time I get home after a day of dealing with what I do, I'm pretty much ready to lay around all night. I'm trying to find a decent martial arts place around here. We'll see about that. I have a couple I may look at.

Last news is that we are going to Madrid in June…have the tickets ordered, etc. We're going to visit with one of my friends while she is there. Should be good, I think. I need a break. We are also going to my sister's wedding this summer in the states. Mid July. Yay!

Anyway, everything with us is going good. Have to go for now. More to come soon, I hope.

Inner Tree

Willow
WILLOW

You are compassionate and independent. You're the
kind of tree who wants to help other trees find
themselves in a crazy world you know all too
well. You love the gentler side of nature and
like things simple and elegant. A night owl,
you like things peaceful all the time and are
often vexed when others invade your solitude.
You love the water as much as the land, feeling
at home in both. Often shy, you always want to
do things right, and crave attention every now
and then. You fear that what you love most may
one day turn on you, but it doesn't stop you
from getting close to others. You are a good
listener and other trees often come to you for
advice or someone to talk to. You admire others
who freely share themselves. When you leave the
world, you want others to remember your example
and follow it.

I forgot

I forgot to post when I finished The Tao of Pooh. It was fabulous. I've never seen Taoism presented so simply and with such beauty. I'll probably be ordering The Te of Piglet sometime soon.

In other news, I've been playing around with khoomei (mongolian throat singing) lately, and annoying my coworkers and wife. It's pretty fun, but also difficult in my opinion. I guess the reason all of those guys sound so good is because they have been doing it since the age of 2, rather than just a few months. It provides me with entertainment while in the car or alone in a room, though.

I'm on a mission to get in better shape. I may post some news on that at some other point…but it is all in an attempt to feel better, look better, and pass my air force fitness test. I'd also really like to get back into martial arts. I know of a couple places I could go, but I'd rather get in decent shape first, before pushing myself further. Anyway, that's all for now.
